So, if when a female or minority police officer or security person messes up, it's due to DEI, then what is it when a white male employee screws up, which has also happened many times in major incidents? Why are they not viewed the same? We had screwups of this nature long before DEI was even a thing. From what has been revealed so far, if accurate, it sounds like the boots on the ground acted quite well, noticing suspicious behavior, reporting the person on the roof to higher ups, taking photos of him, etc. It seems the failure was more than likely higher up the chain and not those working on the ground in his security detail.

We are at heightened risk because of DEI. But I have been saying all along, when the next jet goes down for mechanical failure, if the pilot is a minority, no matter how skilled that person might be, it will be blamed on DEI. DEI has harmed minorities and the rest of us who might be passed over for a promotion because we don’t fit the DEI check box, rather than selecting the most qualified person. We need to abandon the DEI nonsense and get back to meritocracy now!

Mechanical failure is not usually the fault of the pilot. That would be the manufacturer or maintenance.

You mention getting "back to meritocracy". Sure, that would be great, if it was actually merit based and not the way things were done before. Do you really think there was ever a lot of meritocracy in government hires? A lot of hires in top positions have been based on who was the big donor to campaigns or someone's cousin or golfing buddy. Take Betsy Devos, for example. She was hired because she and her spouse were big donors, not because she had any merit based reason to be Secretary of Education. Getting high level government appointments, in past history, has often been simply about money and connections, not merit. I even see that at the local level in my town.

Exactly my point. Mechanical failure not the fault of the pilot, but if pilot a minority, (s)he would be blamed for the plane going down. I guess poor choice of words, “getting back to.” Surely government positions have never been based on merit. But all positions in the private sector should be based on merit.

Top of the chain is a DEI hire.

She’s certainly behaving like a diversity hire—incompetent behavior followed by BS excuses for said behavior: “The roof was sloped.” She also supports the 30x30 initiative.

Haven't seen any particular evidence of that, one way or the other. Only the people who vetted candidates would know the truth on that. All the rest is speculation. I know she was favored by certain people at the time of the nomination. She did have 27 years experience with the Secret Service, including high level management positions.

A 5'2" 170 lb supermarket loss prevention clerk will not make a Secret Service protection agent. Their first instinct was to duck and protect themselves, not their protectee. No matter how much you wish it differently. Even a fit Wonder Woman doesn't beat Superman...these were not fit Wonder women.

I dreamed I had Dan Marino's arm. No matter how hard I dreamed it I never had Dan Marino's arm. And if I had been hired as an NFL QB I'd have sucked. There are natural limitations in life. A 5'2" 170 lb loss prevention clerk has to know theirs.

But you're right, the failure was higher up, putting a 5'2" 170lb supermarket loss prevention clerk in a position they weren't capable of filling. DEI denies natural limitations exist. Fantasy makes for poor reality.

The male officer that climbed the roof wanted to protect himself. The head of his department said he dropped to the ground because he didn't want to be shot. So, do you view that the same way, then? Are you being consistent?

So you're saying the short, fat stupid officers did the best they could? I agree.
