I'm a fan of Niall Ferguson. He wrote a book about institutional failure in 2014 that I found interesting. But at the tail end of the COVID fiasco he wrote another book ("DOOM") that seemed side with the authorities and their cancellation of authentic experts. He's a very bright man, but he seemed to be swayed by the illusionary consensus that was created to support the administration and the suppression of free speech. Perhaps this was a failure on the side of laziness. The weekly data from the CDC made it obvious that the mRNA experiment had failed ... over a million vaccinated Americans were coming down with COVID every week in Dec. 2021, It took a little work to follow the weekly reports, but it was right there despite the apparent consensus. Consensus is a political term and has little to do with science or even logic. I think the thing that is lacking right now is simply courage. Too many of us rely on the opinion of others who wield power on the basis of credentials and position, even if their dictates are contrary to our own experience ... men competing in women's sports is an example.
And these institutional failures, I'm beginning to wonder, just may be laziness and stupidity.
The people we see who failed in their job always seem lazy and stupid, kund of like Kamela.
